Budjerah is Australian-born singer of Coodjinburra descent from the Bundjalung nation. His love of music began in the church, where his parents were preachers, and he was influenced by gospel music and icons like Sam Cooke. His career began early, when he would perform for large crowds at the Gold Coast Suns’ local games. In March 2021, Budjerah was featured as a local Up Next artist, identifying him as a rising star in Australia and New Zealand. That year he won the Michael Gudinski Breakthrough Artist award at the ARIA Awards. In 2022, he released his debut EP, Conversations, and launched his first-ever global tour. In 2023, Budjerah was recognized as Artist of the Year at the National Indigenous Music Awards. He has a chameleon-like quality in front of the camera, seamlessly able to shift from eclectic to of the moment, whether he’s wearing over-the-top two pieces or tie-dye and denim.
